It is terrible. It is *so* terrible you should box it up and send it to me, so I can dispose of it properly 8-)Hi all I have been offered a dual G4 450 MHz. I have no exeriance of thees machines, so I am not familiar with the pro's and con's of the dual G4's. If anyone on this list can give me an insight into thees machines: like is it fast (I juse a G4 400MHz at work) and are there compatebillity issues. Is it an upgradeble machine. Does it have any weakness that I should know about. And how well does it run Jaguar (Quartz Extreme support?).
It is perfectly capable under Jaguar, and now that Finder is multithreaded, it shgould be noticeably faster than your solo G4/400.It will certainly be noticable with applications that are enabled for dual processors (mostly video editing, music editing, photoshop and 3-D apps now, that I've noticed) Those it'll speed up a fair bit.
I dont know of any major incompatibilities offhand (anything that can't deal with dual processors just uses one of them), and someone, iirc, is selling a dual 800 card to upgrade it.
