Hi all
I have been offered a dual G4 450 MHz.
I have no exeriance of thees machines, so I am not familiar with the pro's
and con's of the dual G4's. If anyone on this list can give me an insight
into thees machines: like is it fast (I juse a G4 400MHz at work) and are
there compatebillity issues. Is it an upgradeble machine. Does it have any
weakness that I should know about.
And how well does it run Jaguar (Quartz Extreme support?).
It is terrible. It is *so* terrible you should box it up and send it to me, so I can dispose of it properly 8-)

It is perfectly capable under Jaguar, and now that Finder is multithreaded, it shgould be noticeably faster than your solo G4/400.It will certainly be noticable with applications that are enabled for dual processors (mostly video editing, music editing, photoshop and 3-D apps now, that I've noticed) Those it'll speed up a fair bit.

I dont know of any major incompatibilities offhand (anything that can't deal with dual processors just uses one of them), and someone, iirc, is selling a dual 800 card to upgrade it.
