In that case, think twice before coaxing him into switching to the Mac. As much as I like the platform, it is not the foremost gaming platform. His Windows-using friends will ridicule him for having to wait longer for the latest games, if they do come out for the Mac at all. And to a 12-year-old, that's just about the worst thing in the world. I run it on a 600 MHz iBook (Rage128 version), and it runs, well... Acceptably for the few things I need it for.
