Flashing the firmware requires a PC, generally. Here is one link: http://liteon.notrix.net/ Drives that are compatible with the Mac are listed at: <http://www.apple.com/itunes/compatibility/> OS X won't recognize it until they update OSX's CD Burner software to recognize the drive or just rewrite the driver to recognize all MMC drives, like Toast does... From Roxio's web site: "IDE: Toast 5.1 or later and Jam 5 or later should support all IDE drives that follow the MMC (Multi-Media Command set) standard. Check with the drive documentation, packaging or manufacturer's web site to verify MMC compliance.
