Your WD may indeed be Apple-branded, but there is nothing unique about the 
ROM in your 3.5" EIDE/UATA drive which would prevent formatting with Drive 
Setup.

OTOH, 2.5" EIDEs DID have a unique ROM, if they were Apple-branded.
