I use a Matsushita CD-R/W labeled LaCie, which I purchased from that
well-known "rescue" resource for $39. I liked it so much, I bought a second.
It supplemented two Yamaha 8424S drives (both failed) and one Yamaha 8824S
drive (still works), the 8824S which is still used for Retrospect.

My specific application is in a Beige G3/533 (yes, 533 MHz) MT and under OS
9.1, but the Toast is the same.

The LaCie/Matsushita drive reads as a "MATSHITA CD-RW CW-7586 1.06" under ASP.

Fully bootable, and works flawlessly with Toast and AppleCD Audio Player.
