Listers; Is it possible to get a complete version of OS 9.1 on a CD for downloading to a PM8500 with 9.0 presently installed? Or, is there a web location where the complete download can be obtained ? I've been to the Apple site and downloaded the free upgrade, but it will not install. As far as I can tell, the Apple site download comes in about 15 separate parts. The downloaded icon is titled "Mac_OS9.1_Update.smi.bin" When I try to open it with Stuffit Expander, I get a message, quote, Stuffit Expander will not work without the Stuffit Engine. Please reinstall from the original installer, unquote. When I got this computer, it had OS 8.0 and I subsequently upgraded to 8.6 and then to 9.0. I have no idea where the original Engine installer is located. A check of the ext. manager in the Control Panel shows the Engine installed and turned on but not active, ie., greyed out. Would I have to retro to the original OS 8.0 to fix this or is there another easier solution ? And yes, I did download the latest freeware version of Stuffit Expander, 7.01 and installed it after cleaning out all the older Stuffit prefs in the System Folder. I don't know if this is a 9.0 problem, a Stuffit problem or something else. Any help would be appreciated.
