I recently purchased a Norcent 48x12x48 (RW481) at the incredible buy of $9.99 at BestBuy. I always buy them if they're within the $20 range to put them in older PC's to sell. Apparently, they manufacture them because there isn't anything else on the Drive, as well as Toast only says: Atapi CD-RW 48x12. I couldn't resist for that price. I noticed that Accelerate Your Mac doesn't list Norcent.
Surprisingly this Drive works very well on my Biege G3 DT. Toast 5.2 recognizes it. It boots on the key "c", mounts without the Toast extension. I actually find it quieter and more responsive than Lite-on LTR-48246S (48x24x48). It still has that problem of the front cover not quite clearing the bezel. It's funny how it leans to the right of the computer, as if the case does not quite fit right because there's plenty of clearance to the left of the bezel. I tested it in OS X.2.2 and it doesn't work with iTunes like the Lite-on 48x does. But the Lite-0n 48x doesn't work in iTunes for OS 9 but that's probably an example of Apple giving less support to OS 9. Hopefully by the time OS 9 isn't supported at all, OS X becomes something bearable to use. ===== __________________________________________ alternate e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Sig: Specs: Beige G3 DT/466mhz, OS 9.2.2 & 10.2 __________________________________________________ Do you Yahoo!?
