Have a B&W G3 w/ Lite-On CD-RW (24x10x40) running Jag 10.2.2 for a couple of weeks. Jag CD booted fine when I went ahead to install it. Later on I have used this CD a couple of times to boot from to fix permissions/ change pass and so on.
Received a Sony CRX-140E (8x4x32) from a G4 yesterday. Installed it right away to replace the Lite-On and did CUDA reset and PRAM zap. Tried to boot from the Jag CD w/ C-key. Boots fine first but doesn't come to the blue OS X screen at all, after a while the animated graphic below the Apple logo stops and I get a lot of grey/white lines in the middle of the screen, looks garbled, and it hangs, same way if I mount the Jag CD and click on Install and press Enter. Tried a 9.2.2 and 10.1.3 CD and they both boot fine. Replaced the Sony for the Lite-On again and it still hangs at the same way??? Just tested this Jag CD in a QS G4 and it boots fine so the CD is fine. Anybody know what's going on? Haven't changed anything h/w and s/w-related since the last time I installed Jag except I updated to 10.2.2, but did that right away after I installed Jag, so I probably have booted to this Jag CD when I had 10.2.2, but am not sure. BTW fixed accidentally the slowdown when booting w/ C-key from a Mac OS CD w/ Lite-On CD-RW (that's why I bought the Sony CD-RW.....). After the trouble w/ the Sony CD-RW I yanked the metal chassis w/ Sony CD-RW and Zip completely and temporarily stuck the Lite-On CD-RW in the B&W to test the Jag CD, and it booted right away w/ C-key (but crashed after a while like I said before). So the slowdown was caused by the internal Zip, althought it was set as a slave and the burner to master the Zip caused the slowdown, usually a few minutes before it started to boot from CD.... You see you win some to loose some.... Any help would be appreciated. Marc * * -- G-List is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/> and...
