Steve,

Well you and I seem to have close to the same model DVD/RAM drive, but our
problems are not the same. Mine is a LF-D211A.

Here is Panasonic's web site for the Drives. It provides all sorts of info
that might be useful to you.

I have two thoughts re your problem. Is the LF-D111A a Type I Drive? The
first number after the D may signify Type 1 or 2. Mine is a Type 2 hence
LF-D2... If so, this might explain you're being unable to use Type II
disks.

Second, was your initial 2.6 GB disk preformatted Mac? Were the TDK's? If
not, you may need to buy the pre-formatted type.

Good luck. I believe my being unable to write to my drive is connected to
my use of the VST ATA/66 Ultratek card. The drive works fine when hooked up
directly to an Apple G4. Hook up the DVD/RAM drive up to the VST card on
the same G4 and I get the "Drive Is Locked" message again. So now I must
look into a new IDE card.
