Check to see what's inside the mysterious 249 mb folder. If it doesn't seem to be anything important (like the system or finder files or anything else that usually resides in the system folder), trash it. I wouldn't worry too much about catalog tree errors at this point, but I certainly would _not_ run anything Norton on that drive at this point either! Might do more damage than good. Boot from that drive, back up the most important stuff from the other one. Install and/or run Diskwarrior from http://alsoft.com, and let it rebuild the drive. Next all you have to do is reboot and run your Mac happily for the next 6 months or so.
