Maybe someone can help me with this.

My Beige MT (rev 1 board, rev C rom) has 3 drives: a Maxtor 30gig 7200 rpm as
master on the native ata bus, a Maxtor 80 gig 7200 rpm as slave on the native
bus and an IBM 80 gig 7200 rpm on an Acard ATA 133 pci card (AEC-6280 with the
latest flash rom update.)

I decided to move the Maxtor 80 to the Acard to increase its speed, especially
for copying video files (huge) from the other 80. I set it up as slave to the
other 80 and now see lockups in os 10.2.3. The whole system locks, not just a
force quitable application. Also when cold booting into 9.2.2, neither of the
drives on the Acard appears, even in System Profiler. The card is there, but no
drives. They work fine afer a warm reboot.

The Maxtor 80, set up as master on the other connector on the Acard is not
recognized at all.

In all cases the slave/master jumpers on the drive are set correctly.

When I moved the Maxtor from the native ata to the Acard, I replaced the drivers
with HDST (version 3.5), using 'take over drive' though I now see it would have
been simpler to ask HDST to mount the thing and let it just replace the drivers
(as suggested by a member of this list a few months ago.)

In the previous configuration, both 9.2.2 and a10.2.3 were solid as a rock.

I've emailed Acard, but I don't know when to expect a response.

Any ideas?

Rich
