Forgive me, I can't find the article I had archived that described the minimum
extensions set for 9.2.2 for use as "Classic."  I left far too many in. They do
no harm but make boot longer than necessary.

I guess the unneeded extensions are those that mediate stuff that X does anyway.
like ATI graphics and maybe quicktime and the neworking stuff.  The things to
leave, aside from basic system extensions are those that particular programs
need, if you intend to use them in X.

It's apparently a bit of trial and error to get it right, and I haven't done the
work.  

Maybe someone else has the details...
