Hi folks! I'm new to the list, so please forgive me if this has been covered recently.
I have a Yosemite 300 AV model rev.2 with a Formac 450 cpu upgrade. I had 184mb ram and have added a 512mb PNY module that I suspect is a CL3. It is shown in the ASP as a 256 mb module only. I have two IDE drives properly configured with three OS on it, 8.6, 9.2.2, and 10.2.3. I have the original ATI Xclaim AV card as well as a Rage 128 Orion card I am using for my one setup monitor. I have a Stealth Serial Port. Is it normal for the memory to be shown as only 256? (I do not find any site listing a 512mb module for this Yosemite box BTW.) OK, here is the real problem... I had plugged the G3 into a new Belkin 650VA USB MAC UPS along with a LaserJet. When the LaserJet fired up to print its first page, the UPS went into an overload status, blinked a few times, and then crashed, never to switch on again. Do not ever buy a Belkin, folks - this should never happen to you. Belkin suggests that their connected equipment warranty does not apply. I should have known not to plug a LaserJet into the UPS, according to Belkin. No warranty, they tell me. >From then on the G3 has acted strangely. The unit boots fine, but I have to press the CUDA button on the motherboard (marked "power on") to get it to turn on. I can not get the machine to keep time after it has been switched off. I have replaced the battery just in case, although the old battery had been replaced just a few months earlier. This has not mattered. I can not get the browser to connect, although OS X Internet Connect shows a connection and displays correct connection info. A substitute iBook using the same DSL connection displays likewise and is not a problem. So something is wrong with my?? Browser, what? I have had difficulty printing to the LaserJet, although it is not a problem to print to the iBook. I wonder what may have gotten fried and whether it is worth fixing, in light of my iBook which is a May 2002 model and also now my main business machine. Any thoughts?
