1) All 512 MB memory modules are high density (they have chips on both sides of the circuit board). The G3 B&W will only recognize half the memory in a high density module.
2) The CUDA reset is not labeled "power on". The button labeled "power on" is just that, a power switch techs can use while working with the board. The CUDA is to the left of the power button and closer to the PRAM battery. I would suggest you also try a PRAM reset by removing the battery for more than 10 minutes. 3) Do you use PPPoE for connecting to your DSL provider? Do you have a 24/7 connection or is it one of the services that limit you to (for example) no more than 2 hours at a time? What browser are you using? Can you ping a known good domain, such as apple.com? Are your browser preferences the same on the laptop and the G3? Pay close attention so such things as proxy settings. 4) You could have damaged the built-in USB if something defective was connected. If all else fails, you could try a PCI USB 2.0 (or better still, a combo card with FireWire) and connect all your USB components to that card and none to the built-in.
