Thanks for the response. I guess sometime in the distant future I'll have to
fiddle with things to get it to behave -- OS X 10.2.3 is pretty good but
there are *many* quirks which need fixing before it is as slick as XP Pro or
OS 9 (most of my web browsing happens on a LAN so dialup is only really to
do e-mail and some very light-duty info checking).

What I have problems with is that Classic will go into a huff if Entourage
or Outlook Express try to check e-mail while OS X is not connected (I don't
allow OS X to auto-connect anymore b/c otherwise I'd *always* be logged into
the ISP). They'll try to auto-connect and then start throwing up the error
DNS not responding. I have to restart Classic for either app to be able to
check e-mail again.

Ah well, in some respects OS X 10.2.3 should still be classed as 'advanced'
beta software.
