Also, FWIW, I've had good luck using a shareware program called Mac Modem
Magic -- I've managed to get old 33.6 modems going at connection speeds of
over 41k. You just have to be willing to mess with it a bit to choose a
script configuration that "jibes" with your particular modem.
If you're interested, I can point you to it or just e-mail you the app. I
think it only runs on OS 9, but by now, there may be a version for Jaguar.
