well to make a bad month not much better...Im having probs with my
G4/466->DP533

Im hoping it is just something silly that has or hasnt been done yet....

*) this is the first time Ive turned the machine on since Ive had it
*)I took a G4 466/133 Tower and placed a DP533 CPU into it

*) I have no reason to believe that neither the Tower as-was (466) or the DP
CPU was anything less than perfect working order when installed or received.

I went to plug it in and test it out ( after I added ram/HD/and GPU to it,
and of course CPU) and I didnt even get a chime/bong/sound of any type
other than hearing a fan run ( though I couldnt tell which (tower fan or
CPU fan)) but it was quiet. ( guess I should trouble shoot that for info
with case open and see which it is)

so I at least know it is getting power since can hear a fan run and can
shut it down by the power btn on the front.( lights as it should when
pressed ). I swapped out cards and swapped ram (pc133 cl3) and placed them
in dif slots ( didnt know if singles had to be in a #1 ram slot or
anything).

At first I noticed a jumper had fallen off one of the HD's so I had 2
masters ( fixed it ) no help

the HD's are same as in DP 500 Im on now ( just swapped out for test
purposes) but Im assuming in chain of command the HD is at the bottom so
wouldnt be it anyway.

even if had no ram would hear a bong at least? ( this I dont know - but
can test on the D500)

another thing I noticed in dif from my DP500 MB is that next to the where I
assume the airport card plugs in (next to FoxCon plug) there is a daughter
card of some type 2in x 2in ( Japanese telecom? ) with a small gray 4pin
connector running to it from underneath the MB.. the D500 MB has it the
466MB does not... what is this daughter card? would it make a difference in
the comp starting up?

my only lead so far would be the CPU I put in and can go back and double
check by installing the 466 to make certain tower worked as-was (but I dont
feel that to be necessary except for very last resort)

any ideas before I have to dismantle it again the reinstall the 466.

*) CUDA switch pushed directly after installing the 533CPU.

*) programmers button pushed (while starting) after 3rd attempt and no chime

what have I missed>?

thank you for your help and insights
Ralph
