I know this is the G-List BUT I haven't had any response from the PCI-List
so knowing that this list is very familiar with Firewire I will ask this
question since it can also apply to my B&W G3.

I have a PM7300/200, 256MB RAM, 4GB SCSI HD, ATI Rage 128, OS 9.1.

I wanted to increase my storage in this thing BUT I haven't had much luck
with the traditional ways ie. SCSI, IDE using an ATA card. I was thinking
of installing a firewire card in my last PCI slot and putting together a
Firewire hard drive. I know IDE would be the best bet BUT my 7300 seems to
reject the ATA cards.

Anyone have any experience with firewire hard drives? Any problems with
them in terms of speed, formatting, etc.? I will of course keep my 4GB SCSI
mainly as the boot disk since I believe I will not be able to boot from the
firewire, but will I be able to use the drive as a way to use iMovie2 (my
last SCSI hard drive didn't work with iMovie -- I kept getting the message
that the drive was too slow when importing footage)?

Thanks in advance.
