this is an excellent example of what's wrong with a lot of shareware, i.e. the authors
are far, far too greedy and trying to charge far, far too much. file buddy is a dandy
utility, great at what it does, but it really should be $20-25, imho. one of the
motivations for shareware is to fight the grossly overpriced products from big
companies, and then the authors go and get greedy. i use filebuddy 4.5, because i can
use it without registering it (i will send something reasonable when i can, i do feel
it's important to pay for reasonably priced shareware). it does all i need, and i
think the registration fee for that version is a lot less than what they apparently
want for v7 ($35, still too high for a utility). again, filebuddy is a fine package,
but the current versions are grossly overpriced (are you listening authors?!). there
are other utilities that will do the same things, i've just gotten used to filebuddy.
before i finally pay for filebuddy, i'll probably look at the other apps again, i'd
prefer to reward more reasonable authors and better authors. seriously, os x only
cost about $100, compare that programming effort to many shareware and commercial
packages and you'll get disgusted pretty quickly.

"There are reminders to all Americans that they need to watch what they say, watch
what they do, and this is not a time for remarks like that; there never is." White
House Press Secretary Ari Fleischer, how much blood will it take to win back the first
amendment, which the Bush administration clearly does not support! The thought police
are amongst us.
