I hope this helps. Then you should NEVER go to that shop ever again. They don't know what they are doing. It is nearly *impossible* to blow a board with the wrong RAM. The 7200's are the only recent exception to that rule. The B&W G3's can take PC-100 or PC-133 RAM in any mix. If you have RAM too slow for the machine or incompatible RAM the machine will give you an error sound at startup. That is the extent ot the "damage." Remove the RAM and replace it with "known good" RAM and it should boot fine. I have worked on hundreds of these machines and have never even *heard* of this happening. There is no "single bank" limitation for RAM in a B&W either. They can take 8 or 16 chip (128mb technology) chips and you can even mix and match them. If you are going to order RAM now for a B&W I would recommend buying PC-133. That way you could take that RAM with you if you upgrade to a G4, and PC-133 plays well with G4 upgrades in the B&W machines. Problems usually occur when people buy "budget" RAM. People trying to save a buck or 2 should do so using 1-800-collect...not when purchasing RAM. Ram is an integral part of your system and should be thought out carefully. I buy a lot of my RAM from www.memoryx.net. I have had 1 stick fail (out of hundreds of orders) and it was replaced immediately. I am not in any way affiliated with them. -- ============================================================== Kyle H.
