I'm running X (10.2.4) on (among other things) an old beige G3, which is connected to the home LAN via an AirPort hub for use as a sort of fileserver by the other machines on the network. The only modification to the machine (as yet) has been the addition of a 40gig hard drive, though eventually I plan to expand this, and will probably add a USB/Firewire card in future to handle printer connections and iPod syncing (the other machines' iTunes libraries are shared and centralised on this machine but syncing the 'Pod over AirPort is frustratingly slow)
I've heard mention several times of these older G3s having issues when boot partitions are larger than 8gigs: this machine boots from a small drive used exclusively to hold the OS, but the 40gig secondary drive is partitioned in four and the 'top' partition is larger than 8gigs - am I playing with fire or does the '8gig problem' only apply to the boot drive? __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!?
