I have a Beige G-3 that I am using as a utility machine. I
have a realtek fast ethernet card in the machine. I a have a USB
card hooked to my scanner and I have HP scanner software and Global
village FAX software on the machine for sending only and the scanner
driver (USB card requires no additional driver). I replaced the 4 GB
WestDig drive with a 120GB WD Drive partitioned into 3. I want to
use the 120GB disk as backup.

Everything runs fine until I try to do a large backup either
by dragging a file or by using Retrospect Express. If I try to
simply drag transfer a 4 GB retrospect file, after 3-400 Megs, the
computer screen goes blank except for the top menu and the computer
freezes. The same is true with a computer sending a backup via
Retrospect. I have gotten as high as 1.8GB before the freeze. It
does the same thing using the internal ethernet (although the card
was still in the machine.) I am transferring from OSX machines.
Backup with a little program called "Simple Backup" which just
transfers a bunch of files by Appleshare, sometimes works but it is
incredibly slow and I would like to use Retrospect or Stuffit.

I am using OS9.2.2. I started with 192 RAM and an upgrade
to 416 did not help. I am using virtual memory set to one above the
physical Ram (ie 417). No Sleep on. I have run TechTools Deluxe.
Help?
