Aloha
I have a beige G3 tower with a 333 chip in it and and a
desktop G3 with a 300 mgz chip in it. The tower didn't like to
install OS10.1.5 or OS 10.2. When I got it installed it would go
to OS9 as the start up everytime. I re-installed OSX w/o 9 and it
wouldn't boot.
I finally ended up pulling the pram battery and leaving it
out for hours. Put it back in and then hit the Cuda button for a
min. or so. That worked starting up on the CD and it installed OK.
Jaguar runs ok... a bit slow, a new video card would help.
I have worked on other G3's that the only way to install OSX
was to pull everything out ( ram, rom, battery, memory, cables, video
card, pci card(s), ziff etc ) and leave it out overnight. Put it all
back and did the cuda button and no problem.... That method has
worked many times customers have given up.
I have worked on G3's that installed OSX like it loved it.
For the first partition. 8GB...... I have read that it
should be a tad under 8 GB and not at 8GB.
Also....be sure that the install of OSX is done after writing
zero's ( apple's disk formatting, options.)
I have heard that there have been problems with installing over an
old install etc.

Hope this helps

Steve
