We just covered this on Mac Daniel earlier this week. The "Sawtooth" Power Mac G4 apparently was designed before anyone came up with the idea of providing monitor power via the video card, thus it doesn't support it. Apple's 20" Cinema Display is designed to be powered from the video card.
