i've just been out and bought the dvi to adc adapter:

as far as i can see it's just a power brick with a dvi in slot and a adc out
cable - it also has usb. they had one in the shop with a sony pc powering a
20" cinema display.

apparently, the only difference between dvi and adc is that dvi carries the
power and usb signal - the actual 'screen' information is the same. the
sawtooth g4's have agp slots but are missing the extra power socket...

it's a pain and does add to the cable clutter i was hoping to get round but
it does mean i can use my monitor...

is buying new toys always this tricky??!! it's beginning to get me down (and
eat my credit card!)
