Everytime I try and open it I get a dialog box that states "there
is no application available to open this document" I thought that Word
WAS the application. Same problem in Classic. What happened?

I had the same problem and I asked about it on this list and elsewhere and I've gotten
a dozen different answers. The one that seems most probable is that the whole file
structure wasn't copied over when the upgrade was made. I reinstalled some of my
application programs (I haven't had time to go back in and fix everything) and I've
had some success with getting at some of the files using MacLink but mostly what I've
been told is to just reinstall everything. I backed up all of my files before I
upgraded but I don't have all of the disks for my applications, so I'm just going to
have to kiss them goodbye (I also didn't save my settings -- last time I omit that
step!). The frustrating thing is that those "unreadable" files show that they have
size, they just aren't accessible.
