The saga continues... I'm trying to install Jag on a G3/266 MT (upgraded to 466 with a Zif) and the installer keeps freezing up on me.
The machine has 384 MB RAM, the 40 gig hard drive has 3 partitions (1st is 7.9 Gig for OS X, 2nd is 4 gig for 9.2.2 and 3rd is storage)....OS 9.2.2 was installed on the 2nd partition with no troubles at all. I have downloaded PowerLogix Cache Profiler and L2 Cache Config and have the config file sitting on the OS 9 desktop ready for OS X but I can't use it until Jag is installed. The install is still painfully S-----L-----O-----W---- and then at any given point it will just freeze. While going through the install windows, there is a considerable amount of delay between when I click on the "Continue" button, then it turns Aqua Blue then it pauses then it goes onto the next window. I'm guessing this has to do with the Cache but how can I fix that if I can't run L2Cache Config until OS X is installed? Also, I still have to wait awhile after a restart for the "OUT OF SCAN RANGE" blue box to go away and the start-up to continue for the OS X installer disc. I'm using a Sony Trinitron 15 100ES (spare monitor that will be changed if this finally works). This is a separate machine from the one that is having Netscape freezes...more on that later. Any ideas of what to try? Should I remove some Ram to see if that helps? Would adding to the VRAM improve response? Should I backtrack and install version 10.1 first? Would a PCI video card for the monitor make the monitor/click respond quicker and the Out Of Scan Range go away? This is incredibly frustrating.
