There are five things that I'm aware of that can cause problems with a 
Jag install.

1. Bad sectors (as mentioned by Eric)

2. The install disk needs to be very, very clean. If you think it's 
clean, it may still act up, so get it spotless.

3. Faulty ram. (You can check the ram from 9, and/or you can try 
removing all but a minimum 128 or 256 until installed)

4. Remove every PCI card (which Apple recommend)

5. Replace the zif with the old one until installed (then run the cache 
enabler after the new zif is back in.)
