the easiest place to check is usually the drive power connectors, the black wires in the middle are ground, one of the others should be 5v and the other 12v. that covers most of the outputs other than the trickle 5v and the -5v and possibly 3.3v but they are usually all related so that if one is dead they'll all be dead. sorry i'm not familiar with that model.
re: power supply substitution, it looks like the g3 desktop has a supply not used any where else. i think you can use or modify for use a pc power supply, check xlr8.com, i believe they have the info. write to me off list and i may be able to help more. good luck. i'd also suggest trying to turn it on without the hard drive, i have seen the motor electronics in a hard drive fail before and basically short the supply so it won't turn on, but remove the drive and it's fine. you might also try it without any drives, or try to boot off a cd in that drive or putting in a known good hard drive etc. David Deckert wrote: > > On Tuesday, May 27, 2003, at 02:11 AM, Philip Stortz wrote: > > > you need to check the voltage outputs with a volt meter to determine > > if the power supply has died. > > Thanks Philip, > > Can you point me to a place that shows what voltages I should expect > and at which pins? > > Also, can I substitute another PS from a similar form-factor model, > like the 73-7600? ------------- -- Philip Stortz -- To be nobody but yourself when the whole world is trying its best night and day to make you everybody else is to fight the hardest battle any human being will ever fight. -- E.E.
