David, I'm not so sure that is correct, re: "slower than a GeForce 3." This is the stock v-card on the QS 1ghzMP (the QS Mac I own). I was under the impression that the GeForce 3 fell in between the 2MX & the 4MX. As I'm wrong more than I'm right - you, however are probably correct :-)
As to the original post... Recently I purchased a 64MX AGP on ebay for my G4/450MP. It replaced the original ATI Pro card that was OEM, and it gave the Mac the ability - finally - to run Quartz Extreme. It seemed to give about a 15-20% speed increase according to MacBenchX. Granted this does not "officially" answer your original question, as my G4/450MP is only a 100 bus - not a 133. BUT - as this is the stock cards on my G4/1ghxMP w/133 bus speed - OS X 2.x.x flies...
