When you run Drive Setup in OS9 do you see the drive but it says it is
unsupported?

If so, you need to format the drive for the Mac. Apple's Drive Setup will
only recognize certain SCSI drives. You need either a commercial drive
formatting or a hacked copy of Drive setup to format the drive. If you need
a copy of the hacked one, contact me off list.

If drive setup does not see the drive, you need to play with the Motor
Start jumpers. Once Drive Setup sees the drive, see above.
