I am trying to find a way of putting vinyl, minidisc and other audio sourcesI've doing the same thing over the last year. With OS X I use Griffin's iMic with Bias Sound's Peak LE software. Works great. Peak is a Mac only program, good tech support and help, excellent printable manual comes with it. It's not freeware, but the LE edition is reasonably priced and will do what you want very well.
onto cd.
I hooked up my audio source to the mic socket and used SimpleSound to record
them onto the mac. That bit was easy. The bit I having problem with is
editing them and cutting out the unwanted bits, trimming them down to each
track.
Are there any programs you can recommend?
