I like Peak a lot too.  It is very fluid and easy to use and interfaces
beautifully with Toast or Jam for burning CDs.

The only problem with all these two track editors is that they are stereo or
mono only.  You can't edit one track of a stereo pair, even to correct balance
or pan problems.  What you do to one track happens to the other, for the most
part.  To split the pair for editing you need a multitrack program like Pro
Tools or Deck or even the audio tools in Final Cut.

Peak may be all you need, but I think there are even some freeware programs for
os 9 that might suffice for editing and exporting to CD.
