Got a new Acard Ahard AEC6260M (ATA-66) PCI IDE controller card. Any HD connected to it suffers corruption upon shutdown only (not restarts) and only from any OS earlier than 10.2.6.
When the Mac is turned back on DFA runs as if I've been a bad boy and previously crashed it when nothing of the sort was done. Repairs seem to go OK until the nest shutdown. If I merely keep it on and restart there won't be a problem. 10.2.6 doesn't have an issue with any of this (no, fsck isn't running at boot --- it starts up too fast for that to be happening.) To prove nothing is wrong with the OS I used Carbon Copy Cloner while in X and cloned the entire drive onto another that uses the motherboard controller and it operates as normal. What should I be looking for here? Yes, I'm using the supplied cable that came with the card. It's barely long enough though. -David -- G-List is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/> and...
