Hi David, I recently bought a Siig, which is an Acard in Siig's clothing. I was having (not identical) but startup problems until I updated the firmware. Your prob may be related to the card itself and not the drive. You can check which firmware you have in the ASP. You might want to try flashing the firmware either way as it may clear up a myriad of issues. Firmware can get corrupted or even confused if card is moved from one computer to another.
CHOOSE WHICH FIRMWARE CAREFULLY depending on your system. To update it, you will either have to boot from your scsi bus or a different ide card. Also, there can be nothing connected to the Acard itself during flash. Other than that, the flashing is simple once you are asked to select the appropriate card for flashing. This is the Siig page but you should probably find the Acard page with similar drivers just in case there are subtle differences. I looks around but don't have any more time this morning. Since the Siig uses the Acard chip, there must be a firmware page somewhere for Acard. http://www.siig.com/drivers/ide_mac_pci_driver.html Its worth looking into. Hope this helps.
