I have a DT Beige with the ATI Mac card connected to a (single) 19" Formac Gallery via the DVi port. The screen only comes to life on bootup just before the login screen. Before I had the gallery, I was running 2 CRT 17" monitors: an Apple display from the onboard video port and a VGA from the ATI card. The apple screen showed up from the start of bootup, but the VGA attached to the card only came to life late on in the sequence. So I guess it's just a matter of the time in the bootup that it takes to recognise the video card.
