I just bought a G4/1.25 and I am looking for drivers for my HP Laserjet 6l. I looked on the Apple and HP site and it looks like OS X is not supported on this model.
Try gimp-print <http://gimp-print.sourceforge.net/MacOSX.php3> it might work, since my OSX box with GimpPrint lists the laserject 6 series.
But! The 6l was never a mac-compatible model...it is a parallel-only printer.
(it's one of those monstrously crappy vertical feed desktop laser printers. My users with those things uniformly *hate* them.)
Moreover, it takes that funky compact parallel cable thing.
You're going to have to either use a USB-Parallel converter (which I have found to be problematic, and have never used with a 6l) or connect to it over the network via some sort of print server like the HP JetDirect, which, btw, doesn't work very well with the 6ls, pieces of cr*p that they are...
(You might detect a slight bias against HP's lowest end printers here...I've had a lot of experience with them, very little of it good. Having people yell at you because their printer keeps stopping for no particular reason does that to you.
"What's wrong with it? Why can't you fix it?"
"Gotta sledgehammer handy? That'll fix it!")
HP's other laser printers have always been bulletproof, run like Mack trucks or Mac computers (until last year we had a Laserjet *II* still chugging along in one office, and we do have some LJIII's and 4's still going strong, and the 5si that was our main network printer for the College for years is still kicking along, although out to pasture, it's only serving one floor now..that things' probably churned out close to a million pages by now) but the 4l, 5l and 6l series were astonishingly bad.
The 1200se is a nice fast capable laser printer, $400 right now retail off of HP's web site.
