>>OWC is working on a fix for the Beige G3 to handle Panther,

Perhaps this was mentioned in their forums? I don't recall OWC making a
public statement that A) it would definately be necessary and that B)
they would provide a workaround. Even THEY can't know yet what the
official requirements will be; only what the pre-release requirements
are NOW.

I have seen the Think Secret site, but remember it ain't over till the
fat lady sings. It's possible that only the early version has New World
support, but that it might appear later --- we still have a few
months until it goes GM.

>>just as they came up with a fix to load 9.2 and 9.2.2 on pre G3's.

OWC hosts Ryan Rempel's XPostFacto and --- somebody's --- there doesn't
seem to be any identification? --- OS9Forever. OWC "came up" with
neither software, although providing a forum and opportunity for these
two important legacy hardware enablers is very smart for them, given
their continued support for old Macs in general.

>only. Why?

Apple pays a royalty to somebody for a part of what is in iDVD. That's
why it isn't a free download and that's why it is limited to Macs that
came with SuperDrive installed. The extra income from the SuperDrive
option pays for the royalty, a situation that's impossible if anyone is
allowed to sell a compatible drive.
