I bought a cdrw drive for my beige g3 a while ago from
either ebay or a swap list, and I finally got around to
replacing the cdrom drive with it today. The cdrw drive
just kept popping out and going back in all on its own.
 What can I do?

It looks to me like all the plugs and cables are the same
on the cdrw as on the cdrom it replaced. Additionally, the
jumper pins are on master on the cdrw, same as on the
cdrom.

When I take a pin and manually open the cdrw drive, there's
a distinct difference from doing that with the cdrom drive.
Maybe that's a clue to what's going on.

TIA,

Janice
