Been a lurker for awhile, now have a problem, I bought a new WD 160 gb, 7200 rpm, 8mb cache special edition. With a free Ultra ATA card!
As I went to install, I got a bit nervous and called WD support. They stated that it won't work in my beige G3 even with the Sonnet G4 zif. According to WD, I need a controller card (siig card) for a Mac. The box DID say that it may require additional hardware, I admit I was hoping that meant the ATA card, guess not.
Any comments or help before I go shopping would be greatly appreciated.
I have a beige G3, upgraded to a G4 400mhz from Sonnet, with 640mb, running 10.2, original 6gig HD.
