Fresh from installing OS X on my beige G3 DT, am stuck on my Lombard install. This install fails (freezes) at different steps or minutes to go. Several times with 3 or 4 minutes to go in "Essential software" a warning screen would come on "You need to restart." Great, back to step one.
Swapped in new RAM from ChipSoft (lifetime warranty) even though I'd like to rely on only the Apple 64MB (bottom), but it's not enough for OS X. The 128MB module (upper slot) passes DiskWarrior and TechTool tests. Does finicky OS X like it? How can I proceed - swap yet another module with ChipSoft? It seems the only test for RAM is whether Jaguar actually does install. Any other ways to tell? I can convince myself the Jaguar CD has faintly cloudy area but no scratches are in evidence. The Disk directory is replaced, OS Extended format. I believe the 8GB partition limit doesn't apply to Lombard - even with an aftermarket drive, right? What am I overlooking here?
