The laserwriter II is a great printer. Check out fix-your-own-printer.com and they love it. I love my two 10 year old printers. Put a IIf or IIg board in it (really cheap) and they get pretty fast and the grey improves with a variable dot size. Even at "only" 300dpi they are really sharp.
All but that weird one in the first group use postscript. (even the weird one ran forever.) I can even give you an old NT board if you want(I think that's what I have). the postscript ones also all use appletalk (or 10bT). You can use laserwriter 8 in OS9 and even download the Adobe Postscript driver if you want. (These drivers both work better than the OSX driver).
