BUT at the PC, Neighborhood Network lists the PC under the "hillside" workgroup. No Mac G3 and G4 icons are mounted.
Looks like I have a half-duplex system: Mac Share with the PC but no PC share with the Macs!!
So what am I doing wrong?
I feel that at the PC I have setup the Network Panels properly (?)
thanks to all that reply
BTW: before trying Dave, I setup OS 10.2 smb and had the SAME problem ; Mac to PC share OK, but No PC to Mac share.
Yank out the entire networking stuff on the PC, and re-install.
Windows does this sometimes, and the only solution is to do things like go into the hardware manager, remove theethernet device, and let windows re-find it and re-load it. Fikles get corrupted on the networking side that don't get replaced properly unless you do a full re-install of the networking components.
We see this all the time; the most common effect on our side is 'no domain server found to validate your login' You're working with workgroups not a domain, but it sounds similar.
