Hi all,

Posted a message about a simular problem a week ago or so, have a 6500 with a 4
port USB card, running OS 9.1, the PCI card worked with a HP inkjet fine but
slow, because not enough memory, maxed out with128 MB, the hp ask for 128 MB
minimum installed memory.
I installed a USB driver 1.4.1 additional.

Bought a G3 DT 266, installed 9.2.2, took the USB card from the 6500 and but it
in in the G3.
Got in the system profiler all 4 USB slots shown (driver 1.5.5), but where the
printer was connected I could see: class 0.
Not like before in the 6500: deskjet 3320,
The OS 9.2.2 didn't see the printer and I couldn't print.

Some responses to this list said that some cards are not compatible, others said
that OS 9.2.2 is the problem.

So, I copied the main drive to a second disk drive, installed in the main drive
OS 9.1 and the printer showed up again and worked.

Copied OS 9.2.2 it back to the main drive, took all USB extenions from OS 9.2.2
out and but them in a folder USB 9.2.2 on the desktop.

Installed USB driver 1.4.1 and could see with OS 9.2.2 that my printer showed up
in the profiler and worked.

Got a message after start up that some audio couldn't start up because a USB
extension was not present, I didn't like that.

I took out all the 1.4.1 USB extensions and but them in a folder on the desktop:
USB 1.4.1.

But back all the 9.2.2 extensions in the extensions folder.

I started up new and started to exchange the 9.2.2 extension from the extension
folder with the 1.4.1 USB extensions from the desktop folder.

Lucky I was, with the first exchange I found the right one, I choose the USB
Device Extension from the 9.2.2 and replaced it with the 1.4.1 USB Device
Extension.

I rebooted, no allert about a missing audio, opened the profiler and there was
my printer, I could print without a problem.

I hope to help others on this list.

Listmom, hope that you will not be angry with me for another long posting,(last
time you said: wow, what a long posting, was about ZIP Drives), since I am not a
native english speaker, I need a bit longer to explain what I want to say.
