All,

Dear Listers:
I'm gradually, even somewhat reluctantly, arriving at the conclusion
that it's time to replace my venerable, 5-yr-old beige G3/300 at home.
I'm beginning to salivate over the 1GHz 17" iMac G4. The current
educator price of $1699 is tempting. But there are a couple standard
catalog
deals out there that for $95 more that include an extra 512 MG RAM, free
printer, external floppy drive, etc. The extra RAM alone seems to go for
over $100, even at discount sites. So I'm tempted to go with MacMall's
deal. Here are my questions:

1. Is there anything anyone wants to warn me about?

2. Does anyone know whether Apple is poised to offer soon some even more
tempting package to educators?

3. With the help of a cable adapter, will I be able to run my good ole
LaserWriter Select 360 with this new iMac running OS 10.2? Are there
printer driver issues that complicate this dream?

Thanks for any advice you may have.
