This is most likely happening because the media is only rated to burn at a max rate of 24x. I put a 32x burner in my G3 450 and was depressed to see that it only burns my CD-RWs at 4x. Well, that's cause they are only 1-4x compatible... ;-) However, even with same media, the new 32x drives burns a heck of a lot faster than my old USB 4x burner!

iTunes only allows me to burn at a max of 24x? This is odd but not a problem. I burn all my music CD's at 4x. A female rep. at Radio Shack told me to do that to pervent skips and clicks on my home-brew music CD's. It Works, I don't fight it. (This was with a PeeCee 16x).
