As I promeised, I tested my combo usb2/firewire drive on my combo usb2/firewire
Acard pci board. (Beige G3, loaded.)

I'm disappointed to report that the thing seemed to be operating as standard
usb. Moving almost half a gig of data took ten times longer (ten minutes to one
minute) via the usb connection.

Acard had upgraded their original usb 2 driver os x only) after I bought the
card. I installed but never tested it until now.

Too bad. But I don't have time to persue it, since the firewire connection
works fine with this drive and usb 2 isn't something I need at the moment. But
maybe I'll check with Acard again, just for fun.

Maybe someone else had luck with this.

One other interesting thing I noticed is that About This Mac More Info (the X
system profiler) saw the usb card but detected no usb devices, though a mouse
and a drive were attached and working. Hmph.
