Finder to erase the disks.
If you're burning a VCD, a CD-R would probably be a better idea anyway.

I've had trouble with CDRW's myself too the point that I decided not to bother with them. I've had some of them fail when I eased them. And CDR's are so much more cheaper. I'm not really impressed with that technology. I've used Memorex CDRW.
