I tried to install Jaguar on my G3/300 MT last night. Things were looking OK until it restarted. It now comes up to a gray screen, where the message "can't open: /pci/apple53c875 [EMAIL PROTECTED]/@0,0:5" comes up and repeats across the screen until it fills the screen about a fourth of the way down. It then goes to a gray screen, then the "Happy Mac", then a gray screen, and the process is repeated continuously. I shut the machine down, restarted, and installed my OS 9.1 CD. I hold down the "C" key until I get a "Happy Mac", then release the key. After a couple of seconds, it restarts, then a message appears the same way as the "can't open..." message mentioned above, which states that a bootable HFS volume was not found.
That sounds exactly like what happened to us with our MT...
The hard drive was the only device on the ide bus, and it was jumpered to be master. Until I removed the master/slave jumper that was the same message I got. Since then it's run flawlessly.
