I have the same drive in my G4/400 gig e-net with no problems.
my friend has the same drive in his G4/400 sawtooth. As I recall i had to
change the pin setting in the rear of the drive from "Cable select" to
"master". both have performed flawlessly since being installed.
If you drive is on master laready then try resetting the "cuda' switch on
the logic board.

I strongly recommend this site for help:

I did a quick search and found 18 submissions. Maybe you'll be able to find a similar problem and fix on that page...

Hi, I just got a new Super Drive for my G4 400 Sawtooth Powermac. Running OS X 10.2.6 Toast 5.2.1 It is the Pioneer DVR-105 model DVD-R/RW super drive. I just replaced the original DVD drive with the superdrive. Now it works at first, but after a bit of time, it no longer exists. It works if i use it after booting up. In toast it will burn discs but later it may not detect the drive at all. I'm burning a DVD right now, but about 3 times before that , the drive showed up in toast, then disappeared even when rescanning for drives. I had to reboot a few times, and now I'm burning a disc the first thing before it decides to go away again. I was wondering if anyone here knows about this problem and knows of any solution. I was thinking about pressing the cuda button, but i don't want to do that until I learn more about what is going on here. TIA for any help please.
